Replacement Cord for Silhouette Cameo
What do you do if you lose the power cord for your Silhouette machine or if it gets damaged?
Can you use a power cord from one Silhouette machine with another?
Yes!
The Silhouette cutting machines all come with the same power cord and AC adapter so if you already have a power cable from another machine, you can use that one.
If you need to replace your power cord and AC adapter there are several places you can get one.

Where to get a replacement power cord for a Silhouette machine?
The original Silhouette power cord can be out of stock or difficult to find but check here to see if it is available. This is where I buy my Silhouette machines.

Or if you would like to purchase a third party power cord here are two power cables that are compatible with the Silhouette Cameo cutting machines that you can get on Amazon.
**I have not used these, I chose them based on their listed specs and reviews. I chose ones that I would purchase if I had to replace mine.
This power cord says it is UL listed and it has the UL logo on it
This power cord says it has a UL Safety Certificate approved but doesn’t have the UL logo on it.
If you want to try a local store that sells electronics or research online, these are the specs on the official power cord that comes with a Silhouette cutting machine.
Input: 100-240v~50/60Hz 1.0A
Output: 24.0V 1.25A (1250mA) 30.0W
Center positive polarity with 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.5mm inner diameter
What size is the connector on the Silhouette power cable?
If you want to search for a different power cord or find one that has adapters, the Silhouette connector is outer negative 5.5mm / inner positive 2.5mm.
Some connectors have a 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.1mm inner diameter. Those would not be a good fit.
Use one set of cords for all your machines.
All of the machines use the same power cord and USB cable so if you have more than one Silhouette machine and you don’t use them at the same time, you can leave one set of cords set up and just change out your machine. (store your extra cords and cables in a safe place).
Where to get a USB cable for the Silhouette Cameo 5 or any of the Silhouette machines.
The Silhouette Cameo 5 models do not come with a USB cable in the box. This is most likely because they are the first Silhouette machines to be able to do firmware updates via Bluetooth which makes them the first machines that can be used completely via Bluetooth.
All of the machines since the Cameo 3 have had Bluetooth capabilities for sending designs from your computer to your machine but they have required the machine to be connected to your computer with a USB cable to do a firmware update if needed.
Some people (me!) prefer to use the USB cable to connect their computer to their machine but some computers don’t have USB 2.0 ports natively anymore.
The USB cable for the Silhouette machines is a USB 2.0 A Male to B Male. The one that comes with the machine is about 5’3” long. There are longer ones available which can be handy but I don’t recommend getting one that is much shorter.
This replacement USB cable is 10’ long and gray but it is UL listed like the original Silhouette USB cables.
If your computer only has a USB-C port and you need an adapter for your computer to use a USB cable
This USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter has a splitter so you can plug two USB devices in at one time.
These single USB-C to USB 2.0 adapters are super handy to have.
What is this thing on my Silhouette power cord?
Some Silhouette power cords came with a cylinder shaped tube clamped onto it. This is called a ferrite clamp and is attached to the cable to prevent it from acting as a transmitting or receiving antennae or helps reduce wireless interference from other devices such as printers.
I only have one cord that has this on it. I believe it came with my Cameo 3 but I am not 100% sure.
You can buy a cable with one on it but I don’t think it is something you need to seek out if a cord you find doesn’t have one.
